About Me

Although you might see me on social media as ‘PalaeoArt’, my name is Tom Sermon and I’m a UK based fossil-collector and Palaeoartist.

Like most kids growing up, I was fascinated by all prehistoric creatures, but it was my degree at Oxford University where I became hooked. During that time, I specialised in evolutionary biology and was lucky enough to help prepare and illustrate some incredible Permian mammal-like reptiles from the Karoo Basin.

Although my career took me away from Palaeontology for many years, more recently I’ve been able to spend more time illustrating, researching and preparing fossils. Of particular interest are British Jurassic, Cretaceous and Eocene fossils as well as the Megafauna from the Pleistocene.

From an artistic point of view, I’m attempting to bring back a classic form of scientific illustration, but using modern techniques and artistic media.
